Client Challenge
Marine Atlantic, a large transportation company providing ferry service between two sites in Newfoundland and Labrador (Port aux Basques and Argentia), and North Sydney, Nova Scotia, wanted to reach out to new communities of customers but was limited by an aging IT system.
Solution
Triton developed an online reservation system from concept to implementation. Modeled on airline industry standards, the system allows greater convenience for Marine Atlantic’s customers. It provides the ability to check on all available accommodations including: general tickets, private cabin rentals, dormitory sleepers, and special needs cabin rentals. Customers are able to reserve available accommodations and make deposits online thus simplifying the customer experience, and allowing the entire booking process to be completed over the web quickly and efficiently.

Triton delivered significant benefits to Marine Atlantic by sourcing an appropriate middleware solution and by building a web presentation layer that seamlessly integrates with existing proprietary reservation systems under license by Marine Atlantic.
